Ngoonbi Housing provides safe, affordable housing and support to eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members. Our housing team works with tenants to support their housing needs and connect them with relevant health, employment and social support services.

Our Housing Program
Ngoonbi Housing currently provides:

  • 31 long-term community housing properties
  • 2 private rental properties
  • Disability share house with three 2-bedroom units

We provide information and support regarding community and social housing options, tenancy matters and referrals to appropriate support services.

Housing Applications
Information and assistance is available for community members wishing to apply for Ngoonbi housing. Applications are assessed in accordance with Ngoonbi Housing policies and eligibility requirements.

The Allocation Process
Housing allocations are made in accordance with Ngoonbi eligibility requirements, housing availability and the applicant’s circumstances. Our Housing Team can provide information about the application and allocation process.

Ongoing Eligibility
Tenants are required to continue meeting the relevant eligibility requirements for their housing. Ngoonbi Housing reviews tenant circumstances as required and provides support where changes may affect eligibility.

Changing Tenant Needs
Tenant circumstances and housing needs can change over time. Tenants are encouraged to contact the Housing Team if their household, accessibility, health, family or other housing needs change so that appropriate support and housing options can be considered.

Ending Tenancies
Information and support is available to tenants when a tenancy is ending. Tenants should contact the Housing Team as early as possible to discuss the process, responsibilities and any requirements that apply.

Privacy & Confidentiality
Ngoonbi respects the privacy of tenants and applicants. Personal information is handled confidentially and in accordance with applicable privacy requirements and Ngoonbi policies.

Tenant Responsibilities
Tenants are responsible for meeting the conditions of their tenancy, including:

  • Paying rent and other agreed charges on time
  • Looking after the property and reporting maintenance issues
  • Do not damage Ngoonbi housing property. Tenants are responsible for any damage caused by you, your family, or your visitors.
  • Following tenancy and property rules
  • Respecting neighbours and the community
  • Advising Ngoonbi of relevant changes to their circumstances
  • Keeping contact details and household information up to date

Bond & Rent
Tenants are provided with information about bond, rent payments and their responsibilities at the commencement of their tenancy. The Housing Team can assist tenants with questions about rent accounts, payments and tenancy charges.

Rent Review
Rent is reviewed in accordance with applicable requirements and Ngoonbi Housing policies. Tenants will be provided with information about any changes to their rent and the reasons for the review.

Complaints Process
Ngoonbi welcomes feedback and provides a process for tenants and community members to raise concerns or make a complaint. Complaints are treated respectfully and confidentially and are considered in accordance with Ngoonbi’s complaints process.

Tenant Newsletter
The Tenant Newsletter provides tenants with important housing updates, information about tenancy responsibilities, maintenance, community activities, support services and other relevant news.
